PARIS, 9 June 2010: English Attack! has been selected for the Paris Innovation Bourse  tech start-up incubation program and will now be based at the incubator’s technology cluster in central Paris, in the Bourse (Stock Exchange) area of the city.

The move comes as English Attack! -- which is creating innovation in the global market for learning English via the combination of online entertainment with the latest brain-based learning pedagogy – is announcing that it has reached its target of 5,000 private Beta testers in little over a month since it launched its closed Beta program at the Next Web event in Amsterdam. With new room for staff expansion, it now anticipates the launch of its Open Beta version for summer 2010, and is planning a first formal launch of the service, in France, for September, with other European countries to follow.

Reported changes being made to the site following Beta user feedback include a simplified home page for unregistered site visitors; a revamped forum strategy for the site’s community; and changes in the way learning resources are made available throughout the service’s Video Booster learning units.

The move to Paris Innovation Bourse caps a busy first half-year 2010 for English Attack!, which increased its visibility to the investment and media communities in recent months thanks to its finalist presentations at Tech Crunch Paris, Seedcamp Paris (where is was one of the winning companies), Plugg in Brussels and The Next Web in Amsterdam. During that time, it has become part of the Silicon Sentier and Cap Digital technology clusters.

About English Attack!

Created by two media and entertainment executives, Paul Maglione and Frederic Tibout, who see huge potential in a totally different approach to learning through online entertainment, English Attack! brings disruptive innovation to the global market for English language learning . Designed specifically with the teen and young adult (13 – 25) learner in mind, the service addresses English language learners’ need for greater input and motivation by using online video clips from the latest Hollywood blockbusters, global news providers and the top TV series; the latest chart-topping music videos; professionally produced Flash casual games; and social networking functionalities like wikis, chat and messaging to create a fun but pedagogically sound language learning environment. Its user interface is being localized in dozens of languages (thus facilitating take-up by beginners); it is designed for us by both learners and teachers; and is designed to be complementary to other methods of learning English. The service, currently in Private Beta, is scheduled for formal launch later this year.
